Eleven boys from Naivasha Boys Secondary school have been arrested following a fire incident that burnt down a dormitory with everything that was inside including personal effects for students.
Property worth millions were destroyed as efforts to put off fire were in vain due to lack of water and the strong winds blowing at the time of the incident.
The fire started at night at around eight when learners were in class for the evening preps.
Police have taken the 11 boys in custody for their alleged involvement in the incident awaiting conclusive investigations to determine whether they are guilty or not guilty.
Their arrest came hours after the dormitory was razed down destroying everything that was inside including the personal effects of more than sixty students.
Naivasha Boys Secondary school is a private school situated in Maryland Estate. One of the dormitories belonging to the school housing more than sixty students was burned down in an arson attempt.
Mutua Kisilu Deputy County Commissioner based in Naivasha said no one was injured following the incident.
He added that the initial investigations of the fire incident point out arson.
Police are now following up on the matter so that the cause can be determined. Meanwhile, the eleven suspects will be in police custody.
