14 People Killed, 3 Injured In A Deadly Confrontation Against Bandits In Samburu.
14 people have been reported dead and three injured in a deadly confrontation between herders and bandits in Suyan on Samburu County on Wednesday night.
Commissioner Abdrizak Jaldesa reported that nine bandits died with five herders lost their lives and three people were left injured in the deadly confrontation.
One of the injured people is admitted at Maralal Referral Hospital with serious injuries, while two are admitted to Barsaloi hospital.
Other bandits managed to escape with several livestock. The police estimated the number of the stolen livestock to be about 500 heads cattle.
Out of the five Samburu residents who died, the county commissioner confirmed that three were shot dead while at their homes.
The county commissioner also informed that upon receiving the news of the attack, police officers were mobilised and managed to recover 90 per cent of the stolen animals.
Today, Thursday morning a group of local Elders visited the affected families and condoled with them.
It is too unfortunate that innocent people have lost their lives in a bandit attack.
In another attack today morning in Marsabit town at least six people are confirmed dead and 11 others injured.
Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali has reported that the perpetrators of the attack are yet to be identified. He noted that constant attacks in the county have hindered the town from prospering economically.
According to the Marsabit governor continued attacks for a long time now have affected the progress in the area economically.
