2024 TSC Salary and Allowances for teachers promoted to C2, C3, C4 and C5
Teachers employed by TSC are entitled to a monthly basis salary and monthly allowances based on the job grade.
TSC Teachers are entitled to the following allowances depending on the nature of their work, place of work and disability.
i) Commuter Allowance (Paid to all teachers)
ii) Disability Guide Allowance (Paid to teachers working in special schools)
iii) Leave Allowance (Paid to all teachers end of January every year)
iv) House Allowance (Paid to all teachers)
v) Hardship Allowance (Paid to teachers working in hardship areas)
vi) Medical benefits (Paid to all teachers)
vii) Transfer Allowance is payable to teachers on transfer at a rate of one month’s Basic Salary subject to the provisions of Regulation of the CORT.

NOTE: No. of Notches means the number of annual increment in that job group.
Last year, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced a countrywide teacher promotion interviews for primary school teachers and secondary school teachers.
According to TSC, the interviews aimed to fill 36,505 promotion vacancies which were advertised in September 2023.
The interviews for the primary school teachers will started from 4th December and ended on 15th December 2023.
TSC started with C1 teachers who were compete to fill 10,819 slots for the Senior Teacher II (C2) position for regular schools and 700 slots for special schools.
Around 150,000 primary and secondary school teachers were shortlisted and were issued with interview letters to compete for the 36,505 vacancies.
Secondary school teachers interviews are on. They started on 3rd and will end on 16th January 2024.
TSC listed the following items to be presented during the promotion interviews:
1. Original National ID Card
2 Original Academic and Professional Certificates
3. Letter of appointment to the current Grade
4. Letter of appointment to the current post (where applicable)
5. Analysed individual subject results in KCPE/KCSE Examinations for the last three years, certified by TSC County Directors/Sub County Directors.
Performance Appraisal Reports for 2020, 2021, and 2022
6. Any other relevant testimonials supporting your performance.
