A four-year-old schoolgirl who had been missing for three days was dumped in an abandoned 40-metre well in Mburi village in Kirinyaga County on Thursday.
The student went missing on Monday for unknown reasons, but was found clothed by two women were heard her crying when they were gathering firewood.
The women raised an alarm and the villagers acted quickly and came to their rescue.
The family believes the girl was abducted on her way home from school by unknown criminals who dumped her in a dry well and left thinking they had killed her.
Mugo, the girl’s father, said: “When our daughter did not come in the evening my wife called me at work informing me that our daughter was missing.”
“I was shocked when she said that our daughter had not returned from school. “My boss immediately gave me permission to leave my place of work and go search for her,” he said
Mugo asked the police to look into the case and identify the kidnappers and their intended target.
“After recovering from her injuries, my daughter was able to explain what really happened,” he said.
The Kirinyaga East Sub-County police have asked the family to be patient while they look into the matter. Investigations into the matter have been launched.
