Principals of Tertiary Institutions Reshuffled
Principals of different technical and vocational education and training institutions (TVETs)(TVETs) widely distributed throughout the nation have been affected by the unexpected changes carried out by the ministry of Education. The changes come amidst confusion as they are normally conducted during holidays.
Principals who were overseeing both prestigious national polytechnics and Technical Vocational Colleges at the county and sub-county levels were impacted by the most recent deployment.
According to reliable sources, Catherine Kelonye’s who has been serving as the principalprincipal at Kisumu National Polytechnic would be replaced by Kabete National Polytechnic Principal Mr. Okumu Odhiambo.
Catherine Kelonye has been sent to Friends College Kaimosi to replace Mr. Musuya Michael who has left the service through retirement.
Kisumu National Polytechnic has recently been rocked by ongoing student strikes, and the school’s learning environment has been significantly affected by ongoing closures brought on by the riots.
Mr. Odhiambo Okumu will be succeeded by Patrick Muchemi, who has been in charge of Mukurweni Technical Training Institute in Nyeri County, at Kabete National Polytechnic.
Mr. Patrick Muchemi will on the other hand be replaced by a Kipkabus TTI deputy principal.
Charles Koech, the principal of Eldoret National Polytechnic, has been moved to Bungoma County’s Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology while Dr. Rosebella Chukwu, who has been serving as the principalprincipal at Sang’alo Institute will assume leadership as a replacement for Charles in Eldoret National Polytechnic.
The Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education at the Ministry of Education typically performs deployment exercises during school breaks, so these transfers were completely unexpected and are shocking to many.
