Finance bill 2023 has been passed by the Members of Parliament today after the members decided to vote for the bill.
The total votes cast were two hundred and fifty seven out of which, eight one members voted against the bill while one hundred and seventy six members voted for the bill.
The 2023 finance bill will now be passed. Some few changes were made on the bill after the committee retreated to Mombasa over the weekend and agreed to make some few changes on the bill.
However, some key issues on children are missing in the bill as revealed by experts. Joining Forces for All Children in Kenya, demanded that the government give kids access to budget information.
They want to eradicate violence against children by securing their rights and accelerating change via the use of their collective power.
Childfund Kenya country director Alice Anukur stated that it is crucial that children in Kenya receive feedback on how the issues they have repeatedly mentioned in the past are being addressed by both the national and county governments during a press event on Wednesday at the Sarova Hotel.
