Police in Embu county are investigating a case where a 23-year old Chuka University student committed suicide inside his girlfriend house in Kangaru market.
The student is said to have committed suicide when his girlfriend was attending class.
While confirming the incident, Thambo sub-location Assistant Chief Rose Wambeti said that the girlfriend had gone for morning classes and when she returned she found the house had been locked from inside and upon peeping through the window she saw her boyfriend hanging from the roof.
She then reported the matter to Kangaru Police Post.
“I was called and told that there is someone who had killed himself in a house. I came and was told by the girl that she returned at around 3pm and found he had hang himself,” Ms. Wambeti said.
She said that upon interrogating the girl they established that the man was a betting addict and had lost a bet leading to the unfortunate incident.
However, the fourth year student did not leave any note behind explaining why he committed suicide.
His body has been moved to Embu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary as investigations pick pace.
