Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to Host 2027 Africa Cup of Nations
Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted in East Africa by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in 2027.
East Africa’s countries won the bis to host the Africa Cup Of Nations 2027 under the East Africa Pamoja Bid.
This announcement was made at Cairo, Egypt, during a Caf executive meeting chaired by President Patrice Motsepe on Wednesday.
Motsepe expressed his great open for African contnent saying the he future of African football has never been brighter but in the near future an African nation will win the World Cup.
The countries which were also in the running until the eve of the announcement were Egypt, Senegal, Botswana and Algeria.
The Caf meeting also announced Morocco as the host of the Africa Cup of Nation 2025 finals.
The CAF needed a new host for 2025 after Guinea was stripped of the rights in October last year due to fears about the readiness of facilities.
No vote was required as a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin, as well as candidacies from Algeria and Zambia, were all withdrawn leaving Morocco as the only contender.
It means the North African country is on track to stage the tournament for the second time after first doing so in 1988.
The three East African countries will host the competition for the first time since the event was started.
In 1996 Kenya won the bid to host the event but hosting right was struck off for lack of adequate infrastructure giving South Africa a chance to stepping in.
Kenya also lost the hosting rights for the 2018 Nations Championships due to a lack of Caf-standard facilities.
Kasarani, Moi stadium and Nyayo Stadium will be the main venues in Kenya. Tanzania picked Benjamin Mkapa and Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar while Uganda has picked Nelson Mandela Stadium and Nakivubo Stadium.
