Why Education CS Is Yet To Release 2023 KCSE Results
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu On Thursday last week announced that the much awaited Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE ) results will be released in the second week of January 2024.
2923 KCSE results was expected to be released before Christmas according to information by the Ministry of Education CS when the last paper was done on 23rd of November.
Following the anomalies which were experienced in the 2023 KCPE results, education CS Ezekiel Machogu was urged by Kenyans to refrain from an early release so as to avoid similar mistakes.

”We want the right results. We do not want hurried release, let them take their time and analyze and release the correct results such that if a student assorted a C+ it should be a C+,” One person stated.
However, according to CS Machogu, the new grading system and high numbers of students who sat fir this year’s examination is the reason behind the push of the release dates to second week of January 2024.
The KCSE results is currently undergoing verification and validation in accordance to the new grading system readiness for its release in second week of January.
The 903, 260 candidates who sat for the 2023 KCSE exam will be the first beneficiaries of the new grading system recommended by the presidential working party on education reforms.
The new grading system was meant to advantage learners across subjects by reducing the number of compulsory subjects used in determining the final score of the candidates.
The new grading system will therefore focus on two compulsory subjects (Mathematics and English/Kiswahili and five other best performed subjects in determining the final grade of the candidates.

This is a departure from the current grading system which focuses On Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, two Sciences as compulsory subjects and two others when determining the final grade of the candidates.
