Students Seeking Placement Frustrated As KUCCPS Portal Collapses
Students seeking placement in tertiary institutions have expressed their frustrations after the Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPS portal collapsed.
Several students seeking placement have said they have been unable to access the system for several days and have been unable to follow up on the status of their applications.
They claimed the system has derailed their efforts to prepare to join the institutions of higher learning.
In the Mount Kenya region, tens of youth who had camped in some cyber cafes in Murang’a town claimed the system had remained unresponsive.
It appears that the government was unprepared to deal with the volume of applications. After a great deal of resources were wasted via the gateway, the system was restored on Saturday by the grace of God, one of the student stated.
The young people who were camped out in the premises waiting for the gateway to be restored found the situation discouraging, according to cyber cafe proprietor John Chege.

Chege stated that several people who had computers at home sought their assistance after the portal became unavailable, only to discover that the issue was a national one.
Chege stated, “On Saturday afternoon, things got better and we were able to serve everyone in the line.”
Several applicants in Kitale were in a panic since they knew they only had 12 days to select the courses and institutions of their choice.
Students informed The Standard that the KUCCPS portal has not been accessible since it debuted last Thursday.
Interviewees expressed dissatisfaction over futile attempts to log in despite unsuccessful portal downtime.
George Bush Obare said, “Since Thursday last week, I have been trying day and night to log in to no avail.” Obare intends to take a medical course.

Some parents in Nyanza asked the government to think about extending the deadline for applications.
In Homa Bay and Siaya towns, some students were made to wait for extended periods of time in computer cafés.
The students complained that the system could not allow them to enter their credentials.
“I have been here for five hours, but I have not succeeded because the portal has technical issues,” said Billy Ochienge.
