It was established to coordinate the placement of government-sponsored students in Kenyan universities and colleges.
KCCPS has the mandate to develop and implement career guidance programs, disseminates information on available programs, and collects and retains data relating to university and college placement, among other functions.
The agency was formulated after dissolving the Joint Admission Board (JAB), which was the leading player in the placement of understudies to universities.
