TSC Sack JSS Teachers After Calling Off Strike
TSC Sack JSS Teachers. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has given termination letters to JSS intern teachers who have been leading demos since the school’s reopening for the second term till last week.
The dismissal occurs after the walkout by JSS teachers was called off on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
News daily was able to obtain copies of the termination letters, and TSC termed the action on the intern teachers as professional misbehavior or misconduct.
“This relates to the show cause letter that you received, wherein you were given the chance to justify why your internship shouldn’t be terminated due to professional misconduct. Part of the letter states, “The Commission has carefully considered your response and found the same to be unsatisfactory”.
The shocking revelation comes just weeks after TSC served 7, 357 intern teachers out of 46,000 show cause letters for their riots.
During those letters, many students missed out on studies and bemoaned their low pay and unfavorable employment terms, demanding to be confirmed on Permanent and Pensionable (PnP) terms.

JSS teachers, through their spokesperson Omari Omari, announced that they would suspend their demonstrations for one month while they awaited the National Assembly’s approval of the 2024–2025 financial budget, which will confirm PnP terms for the majority of them.
“We decided to halt our protests following the JSS County leaders’ meeting on Thursday in order to allow Parliament to approve the 2024–25 budget. We ought to have heard from you by then regarding the 46,000 teachers’ confirmation status, according to Omari.
Among those who have received termination letters include Omari Omari, the JSS intern teachers spokesman.
