Highly intelligent people have a high capacity to solve problems because they are often smart, focused and highly creative.
Besides this, they exhibit some traits which do not allow them to become the best teachers. The following are the common characteristics among intelligent people that make to unpopular in the teaching career;
1. They find it difficult to fit in socialization;
They are often getting it difficult to fit in. Their intelligence in most cases bars them to socialize with other people because they are always in their world.
They find it hard to socialize and interact with others. Usually, these people find solace in thinking and staying alone most of the time.
To be successful in a teaching career you need to be a social being. These traits of finding it hard to socialize can never allow them to become the best teachers in the field of education.
2. Intelligent People Are Pressured To Succeed;
Would intelligent people accept failure so easily? They are always pressured to succeed in whatever they do in life.
In teaching and learning, they find it hard to accept that a student who has passed through their hard can score low grades.
They have higher expectations from their learners and usually, this makes them depressed or rather frustrated in the teaching career. A frustrated person can never deliver in class.
4. Intelligent People Find It A Mountain To Make Friends;
People with a high intelligence quotient (IQ) have foresight which usually makes it so challenging for them to make friends easily.
They are highly selective when it comes to choosing friends that is they always have a desire to have friends who are intelligent and perfect just like them. This usually leaves them without any friends.
With this nature don’t you think it will be hard for them to interact with learners of different academic potentials!
3. Intelligent People Are too conscious;
They suffer analysis paralysis. They are always analytical and at times they overanalyze things or situations which can make them magnify simple problems to a mountain level.
Also, they are too conscious of not making mistakes and therefore only restrict themselves to activities which they perform successfully without errors.
6. Intelligent People are socially Misfit;
They are usually anti-social. They focus their passion on reading, learning and discovering new things.
This usually kills their social lives and hence cannot make good teachers.
8. Intelligent People are always bored easily;
Teaching requires a person who can be patient for a little bit longer. Teaching low academic achievers call for the patience of a teacher.
Repetition is a norm in the teaching and learning process to accommodate all categories of learners. If you get bored easily, then teaching is not the best profession for you.
7. Intelligent People Find It Difficult To Express Themselves;
Effectiveness in content delivery solely relies on how you express yourself. You can be highly knowledgeable but sharing becomes a challenge. Intelligent people think too much, they don’t talk too much.
