To Curb School Unrest, Collective Responsibility Is The Only Way
Society has a collective responsibility to nurture and raise individuals who are not poised to destroy it. To curb school unrest and arson collective responsibility is the only way.
The students are burning schools will be soon be integrated with society to engage in social and economic growth. If the current situation continues, what kind of a society will we have in future?
Sadly, nobody seems ready to take responsibility for the growing trend of students burning schools. Parents blame teachers, students blame the academic calendar and the ministry of education may be laying blame on both parents teachers and students. Who knows what reports the Education CS will give in Parliament?
The series of blame games for the wayward behaviour, riots, burning of school buildings (especially dormitories, administration blocks, classrooms and food stores) will not bear any fruits.
The unrest in our schools is worrisome and unfortunate behaviour, which has become a recurrent affair and need to be addressed immediately before the situation worsens and cause more harm to society.
All Stakeholders must come together to look for a permanent solution instead of blaming each other.
A series and multiplicity of measures have been carried out through comprehensive analysis and investigations with reports compiled by various task forces that have often spelt out the relevant recommendations for implementation.
Further, society must be cognizant of the fact that these students will soon be integrated into society to engage in social and economic growth beyond the confines of the education system.
If collectively the country fails to correct the situation, it will spill over to society. Society will be characterised with individuals who would rather resort to violence and arson in resolving disputes or when dealing with unaddressed issues.
We must avoid blaming each other at all costs and raise individuals with good manners and values as issues are addressed.
