A Class 7 Pupil is Nursing Injuries He Received After Eating Extra Chapati
At Gremon Education Center in Mombasa, the rules dictates that each Pupil must take only one chapati. A class 7 pupil broke the rule and took five chapatis. He was beaten for disobeying the rules and is now nursing serious injuries that he sustained. It is alleged that teachers beat him but the school administrator says that the teachers were not involved.
The mother of the thirteen year old boy told the media that her child was beaten two weeks ago but was not informed. A week later after the incident she received the information.
The boy is admitted at makadara hospital and is now undergoing treatment. He sustained several Injuries and his back is burnt with scars, his mother said.
From unverified reports, it is alleged that the class seven boy was throbbed with a horse pipe after which hot water was poured on him before his fellow pupils rained on him thoroughly.
The boy was with wounds in his genitals and acute kidney Injuries, said Makadara hospital doctor who is treating him. Currently, we are managing the kidney problem and at the same time treating the infection in his genitals, he added. Passage of urine is being monitored as well.
School head Gachewa Nancy told the media that the incident involved the pupils only as she maintains that no teacher was involved. It was pupils affair.
According to her, the incident is now under investigation and no one should interfer with the investigations.
However, she has been arrested as the police are investigating the incident and she is being detained at Kazandani police station.
Adan Hussein Coast Region Education Director while reacting to the incident said the institution in question does not meet the minimum requirements for operating a school as per the Ministry of Education guidelines.
The primary section is not registered and hence must be closed indefinitely. Secondary section is operating below the minimum requirements as it does not meet required standards in hygiene hence shai be closed until such a time when they can meet the requirements stipulated by the ministry, Hussein said.
