Good News At Last To Egerton University Students And Staff As The Institution Is Set To Reopen From This Date
Students of Egerton University were sent home last year after lecturers and other staff members went on strike.
Since then all the students have been at waiting for the strike to be called off to resume their studies.
There is hope for reopening after the institution was closed over three months ago after a crucial and fruitful meeting that was held on Yesterday 11th February 2022.
Through a letter that was seen on their official website and social media platforms, the school Senate has resolved that the school should resume with immediate effect. They have now informed all the students and staff members about the dates that they are supposed to report back to school.
Reopening dates have been announced in relation to the vacalty. Students under the faculty of Health Sciences are required to report back to school on February 12 and 13 with for both teaching and examinations scheduled to resume immediately they report back to school.
Other vacalties will also report on February 12 and 13 but their learning and examination timetable is somehow different. Their timetable will run from February 14, 2022 to March 11, 2022.
Late this week Egerton University announced to the public the suspension of 14 Lecturers for deserting duties since November 2021 when they went on strike after the institution failed to pay their salaries.
The 14 are allegedly suspended for deserting duties paralysing learning in the institution fir more than three months. The show-cause letter that was sent to the 14 staff members stated that the members have been suspended with immediate effect and are therefore called upon to hand over their responsibilities and any university property under their care to the chairman of the department under them and vacate office.
Students and business fraternity around Egerton University have been the most affected during this long period that the institution has been closed.
