Good News to Private School Owners After Magoha Made this Announcement
Private School Owners have a reason to smile after Magoha delivered the following good news.
Professor Magoha has announced that private primary schools are at liberty to begin junior secondary section within the facility.
While speaking yesterday Magoha said the government will accept any proposals presented by private schools to the ministry who are seeking for approval so that they can start junior secondary schools. He however added that sayings in order for the proposals to be approved the owners must show that they have enough space and could get teachers who are trained under Competency-Based Curriculum.
He added that the owners must have finances to construct two classrooms within one month time for hosting junior secondary for them to apply.
The full cost for constructing CBC classroom will be met by the owners. However, those who have extra classrooms can fix them instead of constructing new ones to accommodate the CBC junior secondary.
The CS was speaking yesterday during an inspection CBC classrooms that are being constructed at St Marys Girls High School.
His sentiments comes a few days after Charles Ochome the chairman Kenya Private Schools Association had asked the government to fund private schools to develop infrastructure. The Cabinet Secretary said that those parents who choose to take their children to private schools rather that public schools should also be ready to meet the full cost.
He further send a warning to school principals who will not pay contractors after completing the work saying that they risk losing their jobs as the government have already deposited the money for construction to the respective schools accounts.
No Cartels should frustrate the payment process, he added. Any contractor who will be asked to give out money in order to be paid should report the matter to his office for action to be taken.
