Expected: KCSE Mass Cancellation in Three Counties Even as Marking Starts
According to Garissa Township Mp, the state is planning mass KCSE cancellation in Northern counties folliwing a statement that was issued Last week by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
According to the statement issued byDCI three northern counties namely, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera were identified as hotspot areas in examination cheating.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation listed the named counties as hotspots for leakage of exams following results of a forensic examination conducted on mobile phones students who were arrested.
The four candidates were arrested on March 20 over their alleged involvement in the examination leakage.
Aden Duale said the cancellation is under the pretense that the candidates engaged in exam malpractice. He said that as the leaders of the Northern region they will not condone such attempts.
He further added that they are keenly watching and are anticipating for the release of KCSE results as leaders before they can take any step.
“We know that DCI statement that was issued last week was meant to prepare us for KCSE results cancellation of our children,” Duale said. But, we are informing the state and the cabinet secretary for education that we will challenge such acts in the court of law, he added.
The Legislature for Garissa Township said he does not understand why the Kenya National Examination Council would target the area and yet top officials, security officers, supervisors and invigilators were manning the exams.
Following the announcement made by the DCI last week, students who did the just concluded national exams and their parents are worried, unsettled for not knowing what to expect when the results shall be released.
