CS Magoha Makes Major Announcement On The 2021 KCSE Exam Results And University Entry Cut-Off Points.
The Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary Prof Magoha has announced that Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam marking has started amid tight security and will be completed in two weeks.
This means that the results of over 800,000 KCSE candidates may be available before the end of the month and before 25th when the schools will resume for 1st term for 2022 academic year.
After that candidates will start enrollment in universities in June this year.
Simon Nabukwesi, principal secretary of university education and research, said the government would ensure that the exams are graded as soon as possible to facilitate university placements.
“We have already engaged the teachers who will mark the exam and asked them to report at the marking centres. Preparations are well underway and we urge teachers to be just there for our candidates,” said Nabuquesi, who spoke in Nakuru West sub-county’s Kaptembwo on Thursday as he oversaw the distribution of exam materials .
The Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will start placing candidates in the institutions as soon as the KCSE result is released.
“There will be no waste of time. Candidates will be selected to join universities in early June. Those joining colleges and vocational institutions will do so in September.” she added.
He advised the candidates that completion of secondary education is the beginning of a new journey but secondary school is not the pinnacle of education.
In the examination that ended on Friday, a week ago, several cases of examination malpractices were registered across the country.
CS Education Prof. George Magoha has said that those who were found culpable for the malpractices will face the full force of the law.
More than 800,000 candidates completed the exam work across 10,413 exam centers after a stringent three-week exam timetable.
The Exam Script Marking has started in various marking centers and the exercise is expected to end after ten or so days and thereafter the CS will release the results once ready.
Despite the fact that CS claims that there were no test leaks, there were 50 documented cases of malpractice, including rash displays and theft of mobile phones.
Magoha has warned that the perpetrators of the above misconduct will face dire consequences.
Magoha thanked the multi-agency team monitoring the success of the examination.
According to CS immediately after the release of the results KUCCPS will announce university and college minimum entry requirements per course.
