Student Stoned To Death By Mob
Yesterday, in Sokoto Northwest city, Muslim students stoned a Christian student to death after accusing her of blasphemy and they burnt her corpse as indicated by police report. She was accused of blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad.
Police spokesperson, Abubakar Sanusi, in his statement said that, many Muslim students of Shehu Shagari College of Education went on rampage after their fellow colleague Deborah Samuel wrote a statement on social media which the Muslims considered offensive against their Prophet Muhammad.
“The Muslim students who were angered what she wrote used force to bring her out of the security room where she was hidden by the school authorities, after which they killed her and burnt her corpse together with the building”, said Abubakar.
The students went ahead to block the highway near the school before they were dispersed by a team of policemen.Two suspects in the incident were arrested.
The State commissioner Galadanci Isah Bajini confirmed the unfortunate incident in a statement. The college student died by being stoned by mob.
One student from the college accused the murdered student of posting on the student’s Whatsapp group “the offensive remark” where everyone saw it. The Muslim students were angered and they stoned her to death.
The Police Officer in charge said all suspects identified in the video would be arrested.
Meanwhile, the state government has ordered the closure of the institution immediately with a view to determining “the immediate and remote cause of the unfortunate incident”.
