Kenya Records 36 New COVID-19 Cases, Positivity Rate Hike To 1.2 Per Cent

• Kenya records 36 New Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
• Of the new cases, 17 are Kenyans, 19 are foreigners.
• 21 are males and 15 are females while the youngest is a five-year-old and the oldest is 72 years old.

Kenya has recorded 36 new COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 2,967 tested within the last 24 hours.

With the new cases, the positivity rate has rose1.2 percent.

The new Covid-19 cases were distributed as follows: 19 are foreigners and 17 are Kenyans; 21 are males and 15 are females, while the youngest is a five-year-old and the oldest is 72 years old.

Commutatively the total confirmed positive cases in the country since the first case was report in the country has rose to 324,011 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,630,986.

Nairobi County had 24 new cases, Kiambu County 8, Lamu County 2, Kisumu and Narok counties 1 each.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe while giving the report also said that 10 patients recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program. The cumulative recoveries translated to 318,130.

In the last 24 hours no death  was recorded, thus the cumulative fatalities in the country stand at 5,649.

He further noted that 226 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program, while six patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide.

“No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), two patients are on supplemental oxygen in the general ward. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” Kagwe reported.

CS said the government is working toward vaccinating a targeted population of 27, 246, 033 in the ongoing vaccination campaign.
