A primary school teacher arrested for allegedly sodomising over twenty (20) pupils.
The Mkonoo primary school teacher in Arusha, Tanzania was arrested for allegedly being in connection with the sodomization of over 20 pupils at the institution.
The teacher who was identified as Jumanne Ikungi is said to have been luring pupils with candy, sugarcane and other gifts before abusing them.
Mkonoo primary school headmaster, Lucian Monino informed the media that they had started to note a pattern of absenteeism among some pupils who were later found to keep the company of Jumanne.
“After the absence we started an investigation and found out that there are many pupils who end up at an elderly man identified as Jumanne where they were being abused,” Monino said.
After interrogation, the headteacher reported that one of the pupil confessed to being abused while going to madrasas and to the house of the old man who lives alone in his house.
Arusha District Commissioner confirmed the incident after interrogating parents, teachers and pupils.
According Mtanda, the pulils have been urged to continue to be examined in hospitals and madras while under police custody to be the investigation is ongoing.
