Parents protest transfer of a teacher in a popular school by withdrawing their children
Parents of Mbuuni Primary School have removed their children from the school protesting the transfer of one teacher.
The parents claimed that they were not notified about the transfer of the teacher to Kitui County.
The incident was confirmed by Kaani Assistant Chief Simon Nthenge, who said the parents demonstrated before withdrawing their children.
“They came and took away their kids because a teacher called Kiema had been transferred to Kitui,” he said, adding that they want the transfer revoked with immediate effect.
The chief urged the parents to take back their children to school as the matter is being looked into.
He called on the parents to follow the right procedures when they want an issue addressed.
By the time of reporting, the education director and the police had arrived at the school to investigate the matter.
