Aspirant Arrested for Wearing Police Uniform for an Interview
An aspirant vying for woman representative seat Nairobi county was arrested after making fun of police uniform. The aspirant appeared for a live TV coverage interview while putting on police uniform.
The aspirant was apprehended for the crime. However, in her defense, she said that she was a police officer but she left the service a few years ago.
The candidate, Gitau Monica was arrested at the Royal Media Services Inooro television studios by kilimani police officers. The police Officers from kilimani station were informed and they proceeded to arrest her during the early morning show.
Monica Gitau is a candidate on Usawa Party. Though she served as a police administrator, that does not give her the right to donn the police uniform during a TV live streaming interview a.
According to the National Police Service, in a statement has stated that the Nairobi county woman representative aspirant Monica Gitau will be probed for impersonation.
Calling upon all the media houses, National Police Service have asked that when organizing for interviews the individuals who will be interviewed must seek for clearance certificate from police spokesperson, regional or county commanders so as to avoid similar incidents in the future.
During the early show, the candidate said she owns a polytechnic in Libra and she doubles up as security consultant.

During police interrogation, the aspirant said that she does not see anything wrong with her wearing the police uniform. For one she said that Oscar Sudi and Sabina Charge appeared for the same interview while in their former school uniform. Just like the she wore the police uniform because she is a former police officer.
She added that other than formerly being a police officer, she wore the police uniform to show her support to the women in service.
