Azimio Coalition Threatens to Boycott August Elections
Azimio To Boycott The August Elections if IEBC Fails to Meet Their New Demands. See more Details
Raila Odinga flag bearer for Azimio has threatened to boycott the upcoming presidential elections should the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission fail to meet their new demands, availing of a manual voter register among other two conditions.
The coalition’s presidential candidate emphasized that failure by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission to oblige to their demands the political formation shall boycott the elections that are to be conducted August 9.
Raila Odinga said that the issue of availing the Manual register at every polling station is mandatory and is not subject to negotiation failure to which there will be no elections.
He made the statement in the wake of a back and forth between the coalition and the electoral agency over gray areas they feel the commission must address to guarantee free, fair and credible elections.
In Azimio’s list of demands to the Chair IEBC Mr. Chebukati, the party wants the electoral commission to provide, among many things, a list of all polling stations along with their geo-reference, information on Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits, training of election officials, and election management.
