Teachers And Civil Servants With Fake Academic Papers Napped, EACC To Recover Total Money Earned
Several teachers and other civil servants who secured jobs using fake academic papers napped.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) says it is pursuing a recovery of salaries earned by such public officials with fake academic papers.
The announcement has been made public through its twitter account where the agency stated that there are many public officials who have forged their academic papers to attain their positions or get promoted to senior posts.
According to EACC, forgery of academic certificates has become rampant in the public service.
Forging of academic credentials is not only a crime but also a violation of Chapter six of the Constitution.
EACC will publish the names of the teachers and civil servants once the ongoing investigation is completed and finally will seek to recover salaries earned on fake academic qualifications for the entire period they have been on payroll.
EACC further notified the public that they are currently in active process of investigating unnamed individuals and will require them to refund the public the money they have acquired.
This announcement comes when Kenya is set to commemorate the Africa Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday at the Strathmore University under the theme “Elect Leaders of Integrity to Enhance Transparency and Accountability.
In the recent passed, the question of fake academic papers has been in the headlines for weeks as some politicians battle to be on the ballot in next month’s general election.
Institutions of higher learning have in the past flagged the problem of forgery of academic papers in the country to attain job placement or promotion.
TSC on the other hand has warned teacher who are preparing for the interview for the TSC advertised vacancies in the July 2022 Mass recruitment against presenting fake academic certificates during interviews.
