Principals to Allocate Portions of School Land for Teachers Welfare.
Schools which have large portions of land have been asked to allocate some portions for agriculture so that it can be used to produce crops which will enable the get additioñal income for the teachers and students welfare.
Dr. Fred Matiang Interior Cabinet Secretary has urged Principals to utilize their school land in different ways for agricultural production to help them get additioñal income for the teachers and students welfare.
The Cabinet Secretary was speaking in NYAMIRA County at St. Kizito Nyansiongo High School when he visited the school.
He said that some schools have large portions of land which are are not being used. Some portions could be allocated for agricultural production such as dairy farming, growing crops like tea and coffee to generate extra income that could supplement funds from the government and the parents.
The extra income will be used to provide food for the teachers and the students. Instead of giving them low quality food for their breakfast and lunch due to lack of money to provide them with quality meals, the extra income will solve the problem. This way teachers will enjoy school meals and will not leave the school to go and eat elsewhere during lunch hour.
He acknowledged the administration for improving the school’s infrastructure through the professional funding in the region that were provided recently.
Dr. Fred Matiang appealed to other Professionals from Nyamira County and the neighboring Kisii County to combine efforts and think of ways of giving back to the society.
The Cabinet Secretary asked Nyamira residents to avoid mixing politics with development projects. Further urging them to shun bad politics as it leads to bad life.
He further asked the residents to embrace peaceful campaigns and elections because without it development would not be attained.
