Principals Have Raised Concerns Over The New Opening Date.
Secondary School principals have raised concerns over the new date that the schools are suppose to be reopened after the elections.
As a matter of fact the voting exercise is over but the verification of the presidential results is still going on and the winner is yet to be declared.
Parents among other education stakeholders including teachers and students themselves are worried and are not assured of whether the schools will reopen on Monday or not. They want to be assured so that they can prepare adequately.
On the other hand, some Secondary school principals from Kisumu County have expressed concern over the Ministry of Education’s decision to change the opening date of schools to August 15.
Mr George Opiyo Nyangwe, the principal of a secondary school in the area, said the new date cannot be confirmed until the election results are announced.
While speaking when he was being interviewed, he said that anything could happen between now and August 15 due to the nature of the election.
This was stated by the Secretary of Education (CS), Prof. George Magoha, in a statement issued by the Ministry, said that the counting of votes in some institutions is still ongoing, hence the postponement of the opening date.
Prof Magoha announced the new date shortly after consulting with the government.
He said that the new communication replaced the previous communication.
