Chebukati Gazette The Names of Nominated MPs and Other Representatives
IEBC chair has gazetted the names of political parties’ nominated Members of Parliament, Senators, Woman Representatives, Youth Representatives and Persons Living with Disabilities.
The total number of the nominees across all the positions are 32. Kenya Kwanza alliance took up 18 slots, while Azimio la Umoja One Kenya took the remaining 14.
This reflects the appropriate number of qualified candidates and alternates between females and males, save for the women candidates under Article 98 (1) (b) of the Constitution, in priority in which they were listed.
IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati said in the gazette notice that the seats referred to in the schedules have been allocated based on the total number of seats won by the candidates of the political party at the general election.
Representing Azimio One Kenya Coalition are: Sabina Chege (Jubilee), John Mbadi (ODM), Irene Nyakerario Mayaka (ODM) and Umulkher Harun Mohamed (ODM) who are nominated to the national assembly. Slots for representatives from Wiper party were not allocated due to an interim court order.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance nominees include; Jackson Kipkemoi KOSGEI (UDA) , Teresia Mwangi Wangiru (UDA), Abdisirat Khalif Ali (ANC) and Suleka Hulbale Harun (UDM).
Those nominated to senate from Kenya Kwanza include: Veronica Maina(UDA secretary general), Roselinda Soipan Tuya, Miraj Abdillahi Abdulrahman, Gloria Magoma Orwoba, Joyce Chepkoech Korir, Karen Nyamu, Peris Tobiko, Maureen Tabitha Mutinda and Mariam Sheikh Omar (UDM). All the nominees are women.
From the Azimio One Kenya Coalition the nominees are; Catherine Mumma, Beatrice Akinyi Oyomo, Hamida Ali Kibwana, Betty Batuli Montet, Beth Kalunda Syengo all from ODM and Margaret Kamara (Jubilee) and Shakila Abdalla (Wiper) .
For the youth representatives in senate ODM party nominated Hezena Lemaletian as UDA settles on Raphael Chimera Mwinzangu.
Finally, for senate person’s with disability slots ODM picked on Musician Crystal Asige while UDA picked George Mungai Mbugua for the slot.
