TSC Gives Directive On Implementation Of School-Based Teacher Support System
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has directed regional and county directors to provide details to teachers and other TSC staff to be integrated into the implementation of the School-Based Teacher Support System.
This program targets those who have the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Projects program and is specifically designed to teach English.
In a memo by the board’s director of quality assurance and standards, Dr Reuben Nthamburi, TSC said the data will facilitate the introduction of protocols into the learning management system developed by the University of Nairobi (UoN). teacher training.
“The purpose of this memo is to request information on available and trained English facilitators/trainers, list of English teachers from the sampled schools, TSC SCD (District Governor) and Curriculum Support Officer (CSO) for SEQIP. Sub-county to facilitate the council submitted the protocol,” said Dr Nthamburi.
The council further directed TSC district heads to ensure that English teachers are recruited from model schools for mathematics and science, preferably from schools not trained in SBTSS.
Also, SEQIP should only attract District Directors and CSOs from Zonal Areas.
The SBTSS program focuses on improving the pedagogy and content of teachers in the teaching of Science, Mathematics and Sundanese.
It will build a community of practice for long-term peer learning and support.
