KUPPET has urged Government to resolve teachers, Minet tussle
Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Nandi branch Executive Secretary Paul Rotich has called on President William Ruto to resolve the long standing dispute between teachers and medical insurance cover provider, Minet.
Speaking at Kapsabet Girls Secondary school after the Annual General Meeting that brought together members and officials from North Rift, South Rift and Western regions, Mr. Rotich said that teachers were frustrated alot after being subjected to poor medical services for a long time and sometimes being prompted to pay for treatment from their own pockets despite remitting money to the health insurer.Teachers are not getting value for their money.
We have faced a lot of challenges in terms of treatment and clearance of bills,” he said.He added that despite several attempts to convince the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to revert back the provision of healthcare services to National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), the teachers’ body had remained adamant.
“The choice of Minet is wanting. For a very long time teachers have got unsatisfactory services and we are saying no to it. However, we are hopeful that the President will hear us and we trust that he will come to our rescue.” He said.
