Ministry of Health Map 20 Counties at Risk of Ebola, Here are The Names
Ebola cases have been reported in our neighboring country, Uganda. The cases are surging everyday. This however, has prompted the ministry of health to start preparing for anything.
Kenya has not yet reported any case of Ebola so far, the ministry of Health has said. But this does not mean that we are completely safe.
The ministry has, however, mapped out 20 out of the 47 counties as high-risk counties.
They include Busia, Nakuru, Kiambu, Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, Makueni, Taita Taveta, Mombasa, Kwale, Kericho, Bungoma, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Turkana and Uasin Gishu.
Heath DG Patrick Amoth has called on Kenyans to report any visitors coming into the country through the informal routes to chiefs.
Dr. Amoth has, however, said flights from Uganda are not going to be suspended but instead the ministry will heightened surveillance and screening at border points and other points of entry.
Amoth said We don’t intend to suspend the flights because it is safer if people come in through the designated entry points as the ministry will take contacts and keep tract of all those who are coming in.
Data from the ministry shows 18, 726 people were screened at the various points of entry between September 20 and 25.
