Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Deputy Secretary General Hesbon Otieno yesterday welcomed the 42 member task force appointed by President Ruto to review the Competency Based Curriculum.
He said, it is a promising group that gives hope to stakeholders because it is balanced, including teachers who are the key implementers of the curriculum.
“The review team is not bad because it is balanced with many people such as university donors, teachers, principals and education workers,” said Otieno.
“We also hope that they can do their job well and gather as much as possible within the given time frame,” he added.
However, Kenya Union of Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) General Secretary Akelo Misori said they were left out despite being relevant stakeholders.
“We don’t know why we were left out but We think we’re relevant stakeholders. However, we ask that despite being left out let our input be considered, but the important thing is to be removed from the group without removing our input,” he said.
