The Union of Teachers has asked the police to arrest and take disciplinary action actions anyone who attacks Teachers.
The teachers Union leaders have asked the police to take drastic measures Following the recent rise in incidences where Teachers have been assaulted. The worst case scenario is when learners attack teachers and no action is taken. Students beat beat teachers up as the community is watching and nothing is done.
The latest incident is that of yesterday where a class 8 pupil slapped a teacher on his cheeks for asking him to submit his homework for checking. The boy slapped the teacher so hard until his eye glasses fell.
The boy run away from School after the incident. When the parents of the boy were informed of what had happened, the choose to hide the boy to prevent the police officers from arresting him.
KNUT leaders have appealed to the police to arrest and arraign the suspect to serve as an example to those who might intend to do the same.
The KNUT leaders have also also appealed to students to respect their teachers unconditionally in order to succeed in life. Discipline, respect and academic excellence go hand in hand.
