7 candidates are to appear before the Judicial Service Commission to be interviewed for the position of High Court Judge.
The seven include Judges Ondieki Charles, Ogama Damaris, Oganyo Roseline, Ogoti Douglas, Ojwang Gabriel, Otieno Maurice and Oduor Dorcas. They are expected to appear before the panel between 9 am and 3 pm today.
The commission announced the interviews last month for one hundred and four candidates shortlisted to fill 20 vacancies in the Office of Judge of the High Court.
The 104 candidates were shortlisted from a pool of 266 applicants who had applied for the position, following an advertisement dated March 24, 2022.
Among those shortlisted for the interviews are President William Ruto’s lawyer Ng’ania Melissa and 46 magistrates.Others shortlisted for the job are two top prosecutors –Dorcas Oduor (Secretary, Public Prosecutions and the Principal Deputy to the Director of Public Prosecutions) and Alexander Muteti (Senior assistant DPP).
Established under Article 172 of the Constitution, the JSC which is chaired by Chief Justice Martha Koome is required to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective and transparent administration of justice.
