The government has deployed cybercrime experts to prevent cheating in the upcoming national exams.
Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said experts have the ability to trace the origin of messages related to exams.
The government has deployed cybercrime experts throughout the country to monitor the examination. This is aimed at promoting the sanctity of the national examination as it deserves,” he said.
The CS spoke at a meeting held at Homa Bay High School on Friday with heads of Migori and Homa Bay County Examination Centres. He also said that experts will help parents and students from scammers online.
The development comes at a time when students are preparing for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Competency Based curriculum KPSEA.
Machogu said those who published material online to leak the exam would be arrested and punitive action would be taken against them.
The CS also urged parents, students and teachers to report anyone who spreads such material to security officials and said they agreed with security officials on how to handle whistleblowers in exam leaks.
Machogu was accompanied by Education Principal Secretary Julius Jwan, Kenya National Examination Council CEO David Njengere, Homa Bay District Commissioner Musa Leelan and District Education Director Eunice Khaemba.
