Another university student was arrested and arraigned in court for defrauding Kenyans money through telegram account with promise of getting them the upcoming national exams. He was charged today with the offence of giving false information.
However, Peter Njambi Kamanja, denied all the charges that he was facing. Peter is a student at Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology.
Peter Kamanja allegedly publicised the information through Telegram while using a falsified account registered under the name of Professor David.
According to court documents Peter is accused of committing the offence between first and nineteenth of this month at an unknown location within the country.
Further charges that were labeled on Peter was being in possession of identity cards of different people unlawfully. The three identification cards belonged to David Thuo, Kipkoech Arap Soi and Jescah Nyoseba at Kababis Township in Nakuru county.
Peter Kamanja, who has around twenty thousand Telegram followers, was arrested on November 19 as part of a combined efforts by the Kenya National Examination Council and the DCI to Curb Exam Cheating.
The arrest of Peter kamanja comes just few days before the kick off of both KCPE and KCSE exams which are to start on November 28 and December 1, respectively.
The university student pleaded for lenient bond terms saying he was still schooling and did not have any means. He was released on a cash bail of five hundred thousand shillings.
The case was consolidated with that of other three univeristy students who were also charged with selling fake exams.
