Mbadi Vows Not to Follow Raila in 2027
Nominated MP John Mbadi is the latest leader in ODM leader Raila Odinga’s inner circle to threaten to chart their political path.
Mbadi vows not to follow Raila’s political advice in 2027 like he did in this year’s general election.
After consultations within the Orange party, the ODM chairman dropped his Homa Bay gubernatorial bid in the lead-up to the August 9 General Election.
During an event in his former Suba South constituency, the lawmaker vowed to actualise his ambition of becoming the Homa Bay governor.
Mbadi disclosed that he had settled on succeeding former governor Cyprian Awiti in the August polls but was talked out of the idea by the Azimio leader.
He was categorical that despite respecting Raila, he would not listen if told to drop his bid in the 2027 General Election. The nominated MP added that he would only change his mind about vying if convinced by the Homa Bay electorate.
Mbadi further observed that in his current stature within the Kenyan political scene, he is eligible to vie for president, deputy president, governor, senator and Suba MP seats.
