A woman is cooling her heels at the Gilgil police station after her failed attempt to sneak bhang to her husband in jail.
According to a DCI report released on Sunday, Caroline Imenza, 30, arrived at the police station on Saturday around 6 a.m. and requested to see her husband, Stephen Nyabuto.
According to the report, she was carrying a loaf of bread and a flask of hot tea, which she asked the officers to give to her husband.
However, a police officer on duty detected mischief and proceeded to unwrap the loaf of bread, where she discovered 5 rolls of bhang, 5 cigarettes, and a match box.
“…But the female officer who was on guard at the report office desk wasn’t persuaded by the woman’s demeanor,” the police report reads.
“She uncovered the loaf of bread and found a steep gorge that is characteristic of today’s loaves of bread, but towards the end she uncovered 5 rolls of bhang, five cigarettes and a matchbox,”
The woman was detained immediately, but not before a thorough frisking revealed another 80 rolls of bhang hidden in her undergarments.
According to detectives, her attempts to buy her release with Ksh.2,000 hit a brick wall, adding to the charges she will face in court.
