When Bishop Timothy Wanyoike of Jesus Excellence Centre City Church traveled down the streets of Nyeri to meet his ‘sweetheart’, he did not know that he will be caught.
The bishop was caught by his wife in Skuta estate in Nyeri town after she colluded with her brother Kariuki to trap him with his squeeze Scola, who happens to be Kariuki’s wife.
Margaret said she received a call from the brother on Sunday night informing her that her husband has been texting and calling his wife.
According to Kariuki, his wife bought the plan to trap bishop Wanyoike after he caught her texting him and she agreed to end the affair.
I told her to decide to either stay with me or to end the relationship with him, and she agreed to help me stop the affair, Kariuki said.
Scola who is five months pregnant with Kariuki’s baby agreed to meet up with Wanyoike in her matrimonial one-roomed house in Skuta estate in Nyeri town
“I told him my husband will be travelling to Nairobi and he said he would come to visit me as soon as I was alone,” she confessed.
Assuming that Kariuki who is a matatu driver would be in Nairobi, and his wife would be travelling to Nyahururu,Wanyoike had no reason to suspect the invite was a trap.
At 12pm, an unsuspecting Wanyoike walked into the house as Kariuki and Margaret waited for the signal that Wanyoike had taken the bait.
Kariuki grabbed a wooden stick and stormed into his house where all hell broke loose. A bewildered Wanyoike had no time to react. He was seated on the sofa with Scola, both fully-clothed. He immediately started pleading to be spared.
“Please listen to me. I am innocent, can’t you see I have my clothes on? It is not what it looks like,” Wanyoike begged. With Margaret’s screams in the background, an irate Kariuki then proceeded to whip his brother-in-law mercilessly.
Kariuki and Margaret then proceeded to beat up Wanyoike as he pleaded for mercy, as the pregnant Scola fled to safety away from the scene.
With no shoes and his pants loose from the struggle, Wanyoike fled the scene and in the process, dropped an envelope containing money which Margaret picked, claiming she would use to buy food for her family.
Shaken and defending his reason for being in the house, Wanyoike denied having an affair with his 21-year-old sister-in-law.
“As a bishop, I came here to give a member of my flock marriage counsel. She is the one who told me she was having marital problems and needed me to intervene,” he said.
He said he had no sexual relationship with Scola and had come to help his brother-in-law whom he said was like a son to him. I came with some money to buy her some food items.
However, when asked why he decided to visit the pregnant girl for marriage counselling while her husband Kariuki was away, he said, that was the only mistake he committed.
