Police in Rachuonyo East sub-county, Homa Bay county, have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a Form Three student.
Elvis Odhiambo, a student at Kowidi Mixed Secondary School died on Sunday after allegedly being assaulted with a panga at a disco matanga at a village in the neighbouring Nyakach Sub-county, Kisumu county on Saturday night.
The boy from Kodhoch West location, Rachuonyo East Sub-county, is said to have been attacked by unknown people.
It is still not clear what triggered the violence.
Kodhoch West location Chief Charles Dete said the boy sustained serious injuries in the head and stomach. The attackers dumped him near a health facility in Rachuonyo East Sub-county.

According to the administrator, the boy was spotted by a Good Samaritan who took him to Kabondo Sub-county hospital and later called his relatives.
The boy’s condition worsened, prompting medics to refer him to Homa Bay County Hospital for specialised treatment.However, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
“Attempts were made to refer the boy to local private hospitals but his condition kept worsening. We suspect he died before arriving at the hospital,” Dete said, adding that they are liaising with the police on the case.
He warned area residents against attending disco matanga, saying they were outlawed. The body was moved to Okita mortuary in Rachuonyo East Sub-county.
