In a post that went viral on Facebook, George Karani accused the Principal of Nyambaria High School in Nyamira County of frustrating his efforts to get his Ksh41,000 back.
“I erroneously sent Ksh41,000 to a wrong pay bill on Monday, January 30 to a bank account,” Karani revealed in his post. According to the victim, both the mobile money service provider and the bank’s Kisii West branch confirmed that the account belonged to a National School located in Nyamira County.
Furthermore, Karani indicated that the bank contacted the school principal who directed him to go to the school for a cheque.
“I travelled all the way to the school but when I arrived at the gate he instructed the guards to deny me entry,” Karani lamented.
The distraught father whose son has since joined Utumishi Academy decided to seek the help of the police in recovering his money.
“I reported the matter to Magombo police post via OB 07/03/02/2023 and referred to Manga Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) 50 km away and recorded statements,” he indicated. He indicated that the police got in contact with the principal who promised to authorise the reversal of the money.
However, several days later, the principal was yet to initiate the reversal process and that is what prompted Karani to share his predicament with the public through his Facebook page as he conteplated taking legal action.
“I have given the issue a diplomatic approach but again looking forward to legal address,” he ended. Many Kenyans who sympthised with him agreed with this assertion that the Principal in question was not to be trusted as what was on display was a serious integrity issue.
Some Kenyans who reacted to the matter argued that the principal does not deserve to hold public office.
