Clinical Officers have threatened to hold nationwide demonstrations for what they termed as negligence and failure to meet their agreed demands by the Ministry of Health.
Under the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers, the health workers say they want medical interns to be recognized officially by the ministry and recruited immediately and more doctors employed and posted in different hospitals in the country.
Speaking after a joint meeting, the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers National Chairman Peter Wachira said clinicians had requested posting of interns whose 3-year UHC staff contract had expired and are now urging for them to be absorbed.
Further, they are calling on the ministry of health to come to their aid in handling health issues as healthcare workers were being mistreated.
The clinicians were speaking after a peaceful demonstration from Green park bus terminus Uhuru park to Afya House Nairobi where they addressed the media.
The medics have been pressing for the constitution of a National Joint Taskforce on Health to look into matters affecting the health sector in the country.
According to the union, health workers have been faced with several challenges in the last 10 years as majority of the county governments have failed to give their welfare first priority.
