Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki is the best performing CS in President William Ruto’s Cabinet, a new report by research firm Infotrak shows.
In the report released on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Kindiki, who succeeded Fred Matiang’i, leads the list with a 27 per cent score, followed by his Education counterpart Ezekiel Machogu at 12 per cent and Sports CS Ababu Namwamba at 8 per cent.
Kindiki has been in the news in recent months as the country grapples with insecurity especially increased banditry activities in the North Rift region. He has vowed to crush the groups and bring normalcy to troubled counties such as Baringo, West Pokot and Turkana.
Others are Health CS Susan Nakhumicha Wafula (5%), Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi (5%), Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua (4%), Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen (4%), Trade CS Moses Kuria (3%), ICT CS Eliud Owalo (2%) and Aden Duale (2%).
On the other hand, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy & Maritime Affairs Salim Mvurya his Labour counterpart Florence Bore and East Africa Community CS Rebecca Miano were rated as the worst performing CSs in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Mvurya who took over from Monica Juma tied with Bore at 0.2 per cent while Miano got 0.3 per cent.
Others with a sub-1 per cent score are Energy CS Davis Chirchir (0.5%), Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises CS Simon Chelugui himself (0.4%), Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u (0.4%), Environment boss Roselinda Soipan Tuiya (0.4%).
Infotrak said the scorecard is based on responses from a sample size of 2,149 Kenyans who were asked to rate the ministers’ performance in their first 100 days in office.
