Parents of Ndoswa Primary School in Marioshoni, Molo sub-county held demonstrations in a bid to eject the school’s head teacher.
According to the irate parents, the head teacher, has been denying them a forum to contribute to the issues of the school such as the renting out of the school land.
Led by PTA Chair, Julius Sitienei, they also want the head teacher ejected as the school has recorded dismal performance for the last three years having been in the last position within the sub-county.
The parents accused the head teacher of lack of transparency in managing the cash received from leasing the school land, adding that they themselves are not allowed to rent it either.
They said that they were previously allocated a portion to rent so that they cultivate the land and the cash went to the school account whereby meetings were conducted to enable them to make development plans for the school.
This school has a 60-acre piece of land and we used to pay the school account for the portion that one rents. This no longer happens and the head teacher has allowed specific people to cultivate the land and the cash received goes to his pocket, said PTA chair.
They also claimed that the head teacher had rented out all land and that their children lacked a playground to conduct their Physical Education (PE) activities.
“Our effort to reach him through having a meeting together with the parents has been in vain as he has never accepted our plea and when we inquire about the cash, there is no ready answer,” he said.
The chair noted that this has been an issue of concern since the school development matters have been halted for a while now and yet their children need ample services and a good learning environment.
Parents demanded meetings to enable them to forge a way forward concerning the performance and contribute positively to the welfare of their school-going children and added that they should be given an opportunity to cultivate the school land
