The Most Popular Degree Courses Revealed By KUCCPS
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has revealed the most popular degree courses among the University students.
Students who scored a mean grade of C+ and above are set to choose their degee courses they will pursue in various universities in Kenya.
Students select courses based on their cluster points in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Exam.
The student’s cluster points are calculated based on how well they performed in the four subjects necessary for admission to a given degree program, relative to the best applicants in that KCSE examination year.
There are a total of 20 categories used to clusters the 560 different types of undergraduate degree programs that KUCCPS offers.
The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. ), as listed on the KUCCPS portal is the most applied course and belongs in Cluster 1.
According to the KUCCPS portal, most students who do not pursue a legal education instead enroll in a business, hospitality, or similar program.
As of right now, 64 unique undergraduate programs can be found within the umbrella, which should give you an idea of how well-liked it is.
Cluster 3 at KUCCPS includes ; Sociology, Journalism, Art, Animation, Graphic Design, and other related disciplines.
Firstly, the number of cluster points typically required is low, attracting a large pool of applicants; secondly, the number of vacancies in institutions providing such courses is typically large, as is the case with Law.
Cluster 4 of KUCCPS features information on undergraduate Geosciences and related courses, which total sixteen different degrees.
Cluster 5 consists of the best colleges for studying engineering and engineering technology.

Cluster 6 at KUCCPS is dedicated to Building Construction and Architecture-related courses.
An earlier announcement from KUCCPS said that medicine and health-related courses were in demand; nevertheless, the website currently places these programs in Cluster 13.
“According to KUCCPS, admissions are extremely competitive due to high demand.” Osango said
“If a student wants to apply for Medicine but is kept out because of cluster points, the chances are he will go for Law, pushing it higher on the popularity meter,” he says.
