Parents scramble for bursary forms, One person was on Monday Killed with several others injured in Githurai 45 following a stampede that ensued during the issuance of bursary forms.
The event was organized by area Mp Simon King’ara.
Parents scramble for bursary forms leading to a stampede. In the process of scrambling for the forms, one James Atanga, one of the parents and a father of two was injured during the stampede. He was later pronounced dead at Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital where well-wishers had taken him for treatment.
The deceased was pushed onto the ground by a large crowd fighting for the bursary forms that were being issued by the office of the area Member of Parliament.
The deceased wife identified as Pamela Munyangi told the media that the deceased had left home to collect the bursary Form so that they could apply bursary for their child who is in Form Four.
Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon King’ara has not released any statement regarding the incident.
On his Facebook page, the Member of parliament Honourable King’ara only mentioned that the issuance of bursary forms was being carried out at Mwihoko.
The Police officers from the area have launched investigation on the incident.
Meanwhile, several others who were injured were treated in different hospitals and discharged. They had sustained minor injuries.
