Another dormitory gutted down by fire. The incident happens barely a day after a Dormitory was razed down by fire in Riokindo girls secondary school.
A School Dormitory has been razed down by fire last night. The fire is said to have began at around midnight when the students had retreated to the dormitories from classes after evening preps.
The area chief, Caren Onyango chief for Kobura location while confirming the the incident reported that there was nothing that was salvaged from the dormitory. All the belongings for the girls were reduced to ashes by the fire.
According to the local administration efforts to salvage the personal effects for the girls was futile. Both the locals and the students attempted to extinguish the fire but they did not succeed.
Fire fighters from Kisumu fire brigades did not arrive on time to extinguish the fire. Their late arrival is attributed to the long distance. When they arrived at the scene they found the fire had engulfed the entire building.
Carren Onyango, area chief further announced that there was no casualty recorded but a number of girls sustained some slight injuries as they were running away from the burning dormitory.
The girls who sustained injuries were taken to a nearby sub county hospital where they were treated and discharged.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The extent of the damage is also yet to be determined by the schoolschool administration.

According to newly revealed information, the fire was started by electrical poles that were erratically hanging close to the dorms.
Some students were impacted by the incident and were transferred to Kisii County Referral Hospital for care and monitoring.
The chairman of Riokondi Girls High School, has assured the public that the institution is having plans to repair the amenities lost in the fire and get things back to normal as quickly as possible.
