There was drama at Medipal International Hospital in Kampala after guards from Securex Private Security company locked doors to the facility with patients inside.
Details indicate that the guards were under instruction from the building’s landlord, Tembo Steels Uganda Limited, over outstanding rent totalling KSh 66 million.
The closure of the renowned medical facility left many patients and members of staff in a state of confusion and concern.
Patients who had arrived for scheduled appointments were turned away, while doctors, nurses, and administrative staff were left unsure about the future of their employment.
Evidently, the landlord’s eight-month-long wait for rent has reached its limit, leading to the drastic action which will affect several patients.
Members of staff at the facility were forced to break off early for the day, leaving the patients who still needed medical services in limbo.
