Three people in Homa Bay county have been arrested by police over child trafficking incident
From the police report that was seen by one of the Digital platforms, it is indicated that the police received some information that a car was ferrying a child from Oyugis town heading to Kendu Bay town.
Preliminary investigations showed that the child who was being ferried in the car had been sold to a child trafficking group for 80,000 shillings only at Keroka town in Nyamira County
The police had been given the number plate of the said vehicle thus they laid an ambush and intercepted the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle led the officers from Kendu Bay police station to the house in Nyaburi village in Karachuonyo where the baby and the three suspects were. Among the suspects is a 62-year-old woman. The three were arrested.
The three suspects have been identified as Ruth Aoko Awuor, Winny Ginjo and Molly Akinyi. The two year old boy was rescued from the hands of human traffickers.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned early next week in court where they will face charges of human trafficking.
Meanwhile, the police officers are following leads in efforts to trace the parents of the two years old boy.
